Canva download settings that matter for print
- File type: PDF Print, not PDF Standard.
- Crop marks and bleed: tick this if any color or photo runs to the edge of the page. Before downloading, turn on File → Settings → Show print bleed and stretch backgrounds all the way to the outer edge of the page, past the dashed line.
- Color profile: choose CMYK if your printer requires it and your plan offers it. Otherwise RGB is usually converted by the printer.
- Flatten PDF: use it only if your printer asks for a flattened file, or if fonts or effects look wrong on the printer's proof.
Canva sometimes renames menus, so the exact labels may differ slightly in your editor.

How to read your results
Problems marked with a cross are the ones printers most often reject or that visibly affect the print. Warnings are worth reviewing, but many printers handle them. Passed checks show what was verified. The page previews draw the trim line, bleed area and a safe area for text on top of each page.

Should I download PDF Standard or PDF Print?
PDF Print. Canva describes PDF Standard as a 96 dpi file and PDF Print as a 300 dpi file for printing.
Can Canva export CMYK?
On paid Canva plans (Pro, Teams, Education and Nonprofits), PDF Print offers a CMYK color profile. Free accounts export RGB, which many printers convert, though bright colors can look duller. If your printer insists on CMYK, ask whether they'll convert it for you.
Do I need crop marks?
Only if your printer asks for them. In Canva, crop marks and bleed come from the same checkbox, and most printers accept files that include both.
My Canva design looks sharp on screen. Why does the check say an image will print blurry?
Screens show far fewer pixels per inch than print. A photo that looks fine on a monitor can have too few pixels once it's printed at its full size, especially if you enlarged it in the editor.
